The small town of Elizabethton, Tennessee had a particularly attentive trumpet player in young Justin Stanton as he made his way through elementary and high school band and the town remains justifiably proud of its two-time Grammy Award-winning favorite son. After earning a degree from Eastern Tennessee State University, Justin headed to the University of North Texas to pursue a second degree in jazz studies. He met his future band mates in Snarky Puppy there, and he remains a critical part of the trumpet triumvirate that informs Snarky Puppy’s sound.
On top of his trumpet work, he is a fine keyboardist as well and is a significant compositional contributor to Snarky Puppy’s recorded material. He never travels without his laptop and miniature keyboard, and is constantly composing, recording, practicing and seeking to expand his and his bands’ musical horizons. Justin has toured Europe with UNT’s world-famous One O’Clock Lab Band and has recorded with Kirk Franklin, Myron Butler, Trombone Shorty, John Popper, Karl Denson, Ivan Neville and many more.
Jo-Ral mutes are a perfect fit for Justin. With Justin’s varied schedule and the many different trumpet sounds required of him, there is a mute for every occasion within Jo-Ral’s product line. Precision manufacturing and top quality materials ensure excellent build quality and consistency from model to model and from unit to unit.
